Our History
The rich history of the Austrian confectionery specialist Hofbauer dates back to the year 1882, when Carl Hofbauer and his wife Juliane founded their confectionery shop in Vienna-Margareten. Carl Hofbauer was born in 1855 and made a career as a qualified baker and confectioner. With his sweet creations he was able to attract a broad clientele in Vienna. Within a short period of time, he gained recognition beyond the city borders as well. Hofbauer confectionery became the embodiment of high quality.
According to the slogan ‘in qualitate robur’ (quality is our strength), Hofbauer has grown to be the strong and admired brand it is today. Besides these constantly prevailing quality requirements, the great passion for chocolate has made Hofbauer an indispensable confectionery brand.
